Reba McEntire Gets Inspired by Young Artists, RaeLynn, Maddie and Tae, Abby Anderson, and Lauren Jenkins

Reba McEntire has one of the longest careers of any artist in country music, except maybe Dolly Parton. Even though she has been in the music industry for over four decades, she still learns from the younger generations that have been around for a decade or less.

McEntire sat down with RaeLynn, Maddie and Tae, Abby Anderson, and Lauren Jenkins as part of “Hot Country” with Spotify. There, she gave advice to a new crop of rising stars. She’d ask them who they’ve been listening to in country music, and they’d tell her. She also asked who they believe to be working hard and are not getting the recognition that they deserve, and they’d tell her.

“I love to work with other women because it gives me strength; it gives me inspiration,” said the “Stronger Than the Truth” singer. “And I say to myself, ‘Wow, they’re doing this, and I can do that, and I’m going to put more work into it and I’m going to be this, because they inspire me.’ They show me better ways of doing things.”

She went on to tell PBS NewsHour, “You have to stay away from home a lot. You have to leave your kids home with a nanny. You have to say no to a lot of great things that you would get to do at home and with family, like missing your kid’s championship hockey game. You can’t be there because you’re shooting a movie in L.A.” She continued, “A lot of that stuff, I wish — if I could go back, what would I do? How would I do it again now, knowing what I know now? But you can’t look back. You can’t live on regrets.”
